Saroléa lights up Spark E#Day

The first ever Spark E#Day took place at one of the world’s most beautiful racetracks - Spa Francorchamps - on Friday 17th November. The event, organised by Spark Racing Technology’s Frédéric Vasseur and Alexandre Dallemagne, was attended by nearly 500 people – mostly major players in the field of smart and sustainable mobility.

Among the many guests present were experienced racer Vanina Ickx (DTM, GP1 and Lemans driver), Bertrand Piccard (pioneer and initiator of the Solar Impulse project), Alejandro Agag (CEO of Formula E), Erik Buell (founder of Buell motorcycles) and Jerome d’Ambrosio (ex-Formula 1 and current Formula E driver).

Saroléa was one of just five carefully selected companies to make a pitch in a start-up competition. Bjorn and Torsten Robbens took to the stage at the same time and produced a vibrant presentation, which was very well received by the huge international audience.

During the event, all the major car marques were available for testing on the Spa Francorchamps circuit. Throughout the afternoon hundreds of people were able to experience for the first time either driving or being a passenger in an electric car.

The day also saw the action on the track, with the Saroléa SP7 demonstrating its performance alongside a couple of Formula E cars. Bertrand Piccard was very interested in the SP7 and spent a lot of time talking to its creator Torsten Robbens and happily posed for photos astride the bike.

To say that the day was a success was to put it mildly. The day was a great opportunity for all the people working in or connected to sustainable mobility to meet and discuss ideas and strategies for the future. The event may have been the first one, but already everybody is looking forward to next year.
